Authors: Samira Hamiditehrani, Darren M Scott, Matthias N Sweet

Problem

This article explores how factors such as shared mobility services, automated vehicles, teleworking, and disruptions like the COVID-19 pandemic affect travel behavior. This data provides essential knowledge for both public and private sectors to navigate and plan for the changing transportation landscape.

Research Framework

This research implements a nationwide survey through the Future Mobility Survey in Canada (FMCS) with 5002 respondents, examining individual preferences, motivations, and attitudes towards AVs.

Conclusion/Implications

Shared mobility, AV, telecommuting, and the COVID-19 pandemic are directly impacting travel behavior. The FMCS explores individual preferences and perspectives on AV adoption, shared mobility, and remote work during the pandemic, and informs city planning relating to emerging mobility technologies research.
